Escape the Crowds
The parish of St. Lucy is the northern-most area in the country of Barbados. St. Lucy is known for being the only parish of Barbados out of the eleven to be named after a female patron saint, St. Lucy of Syracuse. St. Lucy was the location of a United States military-base at Harrison's Point. St. Lucy is also somewhat of a large peninsula, which is surrounded on three sides by the Atlantic Ocean to the north, east and west. To the south lies the Parish of St. Peter.
St. Lucy is the most distant area of Barbados from the capital-city Bridgetown, located in the parish of St. Michael or the International Airport in Christ Church. St. Lucy remains one of the lesser-populated parts of the island owing to the fact that it remains so far out of the way.
