White Sand Beaches of the South Coast

Needham’s Point

With calm crystal clear waters Needham's Point is a favourite sea bathing spot for locals and visitors alike. There are almost 3 distinct beaches surrounding the point - the northernmost is referred to by locals as Pebbles Beach. To the south is the area known as Drill Hall beach. Sandwiched right in the middle is perhaps the loveliest beach of all - Needham's Point itself. The extremely calm waters lap onto the white beach and a reef almost makes a natural swimming pool out of the ocean.

Dover Beach
Dover Beach is located in middle of the popular St.Lawrence Gap, on the south coast of the island. The wide and expansive beach is popular for a variety of watersports including Hobie Cat sailing, jetskiing, boogie boarding and even windsurfing. At the Dover Playing Field across the road from the beach you can often catch a cricket match as visiting teams take on local cricketers, or see Bajan footballers in action. The playing field comes alive during the Congaline Carnival when it serves as the base for the festival.

Maxwell
On the south coast of the island, just east of St. Lawrence Gap is the lovely Maxwell area. Like most beaches on the south coast of Barbados, the sea at Maxwell beach is a bit lively. However the waters are still calm enough for safe swimming, even for supervised children.

Miami Beach
On the south coast of Barbados, in Enterprise, you will find Miami Beach, also known as Enterprise Beach. This wide expanse of beach is rarely crowded during the week, but is a popular spot among Barbadians on the week-ends and public holidays.
